Great video, love the excitement it's infectious. Wonderful to see technology making things so much less complex, I have to wonder what else people can come up with in the future. However... I'd have appreciated a slower edit with more explanation. I can keep up but it would be great to let my kid watch and understand everything. However the pace combined with the technicality of the subject matter might be a barrier to learning which is a bit of a shame. Curse you youtube for demanding 1 second attention span content. Joking aside I firmly believe subscribers of CC are a smarter than your average chimp I don't think many would be put off if you took the foot of the pedal a little. Thanks!

That alternative to the clapper video slate is so damn clever, and useful. I really like the concept, and it sounds like (no pun intended) it worked for you. As you described it though, I couldn't help but wonder, if the majority of the takes for a particular scene sound the same, aren't the all the wave forms for that particular scene going to look mostly the same to the program? Is there another way of tagging each recording to be recognized as belonging with each take?

Human ingenuity is really amazing, it drives creativity and motivates small time creators to reach for the Hollywood level stars. It's also scary to people who have dedicated their entire careers to perfecting a skill set that is only one part of a support network for the old technology. I think it's important to recognize that unions are there to make sure that people aren't taken advantage of by the powerhouse companies that would never pay someone a living wage if they could get away with it. The industry is made possible by the push and pull between the producers, creators, and workers. Belittling any one of those legs is doing the whole process a disservice.

This stuff excites me! After having studied film through University I came to realise that I dislike the tradition, seperated forms of filmmaking, where it is so restrictive and everyone has to stay in their lane. I loved the more Guerilla style, where you may be multiple roles in set and far more engaged and their is, for me at least, a larger sense of comradery. I really struggled on a film I directed earlier this year, when I was getting told by my crew members that i don't have to do anything. Like I would be standing right next to a light and the DoP said he needed that light moved a few centimetres to the right. I would go to do that, as I had done a million times, just for the gaffer to say no no it's ok, your the director, you don't need to do that. Like I understand on larger productions why, I have just discovered that it's not necessarily the style of filmmaking that I am interested in!
